Madeleine Jager is a multidisciplinary artist whose work encompasses a multitude of mediums including metal, glass, and ceramic. Her primary interest is in handmade wearable objects, which she believes are a vital form of personal communication. Jager received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a concentration in Jewelry and Metalsmithing. She has worked as a student technician in several different studio environments, including metalsmithing, digital fabrication, and ceramics. For the past five years she has also worked as a studio assistant to glass artist Terry Gomien. Jager’s work has been featured in several exhibitions, including MACRO/micro, a multi-institutional curatorial project and traveling exhibition transitioned to an online exhibition hosted by Ball State University. She has received several awards and scholarships for her work, including a First Place scholarship award in Kessler’s Diamonds 2019 Sparkle Scholarship competition, as well as a matching scholarship to Arrowmont School of Arts and Craft. She is active in her community, recently aiding in the organization and finalization of the UWM’s pieces contributing to the Hand Medal Project, a global effort to honor the service of healthcare workers through the distribution of handmade ex voto hand medals.
